Georgia requires an IRS-receipted Schedule 1 as proof of payment prior to, and as a condition of, registration for vehicles at 55,000 pounds taxable gross weight or greater. Every page must carry the IRS watermark or e-file stamp and matching VINs β€” and tax-suspended vehicles must still file and provide proof of suspension. A bill of sale dated within 60 days substitutes for a new purchase.

Where you register depends on your weight

Georgia splits the counter: intrastate commercial vehicles under 26,000 pounds register at the county tag office where the business is located, while vehicles at 26,001 pounds or more β€” or any vehicle crossing state lines β€” must register online through the Georgia Trucking Portal. The DOR states plainly that IRP registrations cannot be processed at county tag offices.

Apportioned (IRP) registration in Georgia
